Straw-Clay 'Craftsman Style'
Naples, Idaho

This natural home has a passive solar design, an open-plan interior and a fully wheelchair accessible main floor. The project integrates 'pattern language' design concepts with natural building techniques and materials, and recalls the Japanese-influenced Craftsman style of the late 1900's. Other features are heavy-timber framing, straw-clay walls and ceilings, earth-coupled floors with radiant heat and slate, fireplace, and clay tile roof for protection against forest fires.
