Recycling, Education & Advocacy

Design Coalition is helping the Defenders to plan their new facility, which will combine the office and educational work with the recycling center into a new, stae-of-the-art sustainably designed building.

"The Defenders offer programs and activities which promote sustainable land use, energy and natural resource conservation and pollution prevention. We advocate policies, which protect our groundwater and high quality streams and wetlands. We demonstrate waste reduction through a recycling facility and reuse center in Woodstock with drop off locations elsewhere in the county and a commercial pick-up service. We encourage natural resource protection through planting native vegetation on various public lands and promoting natural landscaping. The Defenders takes positions on a variety of local government issues, supplies experts and concerned citizens to testify before public bodies, and often leads the way for positive changes for the environment." .
