SECTION 01040 -- PROJECT COORDINATION

PART 1 -- GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTION

The minimum administrative requirements necessary for project coordination include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

Delete from the list below those items which require no specific actions beyond the general coordination and cooperation covered in the General Conditions.
Project meetings
Supervisory personnel
Records or reports
Limitations for use of site
Waste management
Cleaning and protection

1.02 COORDINATION & PROJECT MEETINGS

Consider using this article especially if mechanical and electrical systems are designed by subcontractors, if there are separate prime contractors involved, or if funding sources have special requirements regarding wage rates, reporting, etc. Delete or modify ¶s as necessary.
Pre-Bid Meeting:

Pre-Construction Meeting: Before construction is started schedule a meeting with the [Owner][Architect][funding source representative] and major subcontractors to clarify responsibilities, schedules, procedures, and special coordination concerns. Include discussions on [waste management][healthful building][&quotgreen"building] requirements.

Project Meetings: If mechanical and electrical systems are designed by subcontractors, Before construction is started convene a meeting with the Architect and HVAC, plumbing and electrical subcontractors to review design drawings and assure coordination. Provide the participants system design drawings as far in advance of the meeting as possible.

Hold project coordination meetings [as needed][at regularly scheduled times] with representation by each party currently involved in coordination or planning for the work of the project. Record results of the meeting and distribute copies to everyone in attendance to others affected by decisions taken.

1.03 SITE MANAGEMENT

Schedule deliveries to prepared areas to minimize space and time requirements and potential damage to materials and equipment. Store and handle materials in a manner as to prevent loss from weather and other damage. Periodically inspect to assure that stored products are undamaged and are maintained under required conditions.

1.04 WASTE MANAGEMENT

General: In the administration and supervision of the work consider conservation of energy, water and materials to the maximum extent possible.

Source separation: Separate, store, protect, and handle at the site identified recyclable and salvageable waste products in order to prevent contamination of materials and to maximize recyclability and salvageability of identified materials.

Return: Set aside and protect misdelivered and substandard products and materials and return to supplier for credit. Arrange for the return of packing materials, such as wood pallets.

Reuse and Salvage: Set aside, sort, and protect separated products and materials for collection, re-use [on site][elsewhere] by [Owner][Contractor], and salvage by [materials exchange] [Habitat for Humanity] [other].

Recycling: Arrange for timely pickups from the site or deliveries to recycling facility in order to prevent contamination of recyclable materials.

1.05 CLEANING & PROTECTION

During handling and installation of work at the project site clean and protect work in progress and adjoining work on a continuous maintenance basis. Use cleaning materials that are non hazardous. Apply protective covering installed work where it is required to ensure freedom from damage or deteriorization at time of substantial completion. Ensure that none of the work, completed or in progress, will be subjected to harmful, dangerous, or damaging exposure during construction.
