SECTION 01500 CONSTRUCTION FACILITIES & TEMPORARY CONTROLS
1.01 SECURITY
Provide temporary, secure enclosure of the building at all times.
Provide safety protection as needed, and maintain in good condition for the duration of need. Comply with recognized standards and code requirements for erection of substantial barricades where needed to prevent accidents. Paint with appropriate colors and warning signs to inform personnel at the site and the public, of the hazard being protected against. Provide lighting where needed, including flashing red lights where appropriate.
1.02 UTILITIES
Provide temporary utilities services as required. Connect with municipal services and utility companies as necessary. At earliest feasible date use permanent utility services installed for project, and disconnect and remove temporary service lines. Disconnect all temporary services and switch to permanent services before project closeout.
Delete above or below, or rewrite to suit the project.
Contractor may make use of the Owner's utility services for the duration of the project, the cost of which shall be borne by the Owner.
Contractor may make limited use of the Owner's telephone, subject to the Owner's ongoing approval. The Contractor shall reimburse the Owner for all long distance and other additional charges resulting from the Contractor's use of the telephone, if so required by the Owner.
Exercise control over water usage to conserve water. Use trigger operated spray nozzles for water hoses.
1.03 BARRIERS & ENCLOSURES
Reuse project construction waste materials, or provide materials for barriers and enclosures which are nonhazardous, recyclable, or reusable to the maximum extent possible.
Provide enclosures around piles of separated materials. Locate enclosures out of the way of construction traffic. Provide adequate space for pick-up and delivery and convenience to subcontractors.
1.04 STORAGE, PROTECTION, & PACKAGING
Protection: After installation, provide coverings to protect products from damage due to traffic and construction operations. Remove coverings when no longer needed.
Storage: Designate receiving/storage areas for incoming material to be delivered according to installation schedule and to be placed convenient to work area in order to minimize waste due to excessive materials handling and misapplication.
Store and handle materials in a manner as to prevent loss from weather and other damage. Coordinate the schedule of product delivery to designated prepared areas in order to minimize site storage time and potential damage to stored materials.
Packaging: Arrange for the return of packing materials, such as wood pallets, where economically feasible. Save plastic coverings. At completion of project, reuse if practical; if not, then recycle if local market exists.
1.04 PROJECT SIGNS
Either provide a design for a single sign identifying the project, Owner, etc. Or use the following
Contractor may display one, small, professionally lettered sign identifying the firm. Locate and display along with a sign identifying and supplied by Architect. Do not allow other signs on site without approval of Architect and Owner.
