SECTION 07610 — PREFORMED ROOFING


PART 1 — GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTION

The extent of work of this Section is shown on the Drawings and includes field applied prefinished concealed fastener steel standing seam roofing, associated flashing, trim, and gutter and downspouts.

1.02 SUBMITTALS

Submit manufacturer's product data describing roofing and support system.

Submit shop drawings showing layout of panels on roof, profiles, forming details, trim, and flashing. Show details of weather-proofing at all edges and penetrations. Do not proceed with fabrication prior to review of shop drawings; do not use drawings prepared by the Architect for shop or erection drawings.

Submit certification by manufacturer that products have been pretested and comply with performance requirements indicated.

Submit samples: minimum 12" long section of panel, and minimum 12" x 12" sample of actual color to be provided.

1.03 WARRANTIES

Provide a written warranty upon final completion covering bare metal against rupture, structural failure and perforation due to atmospheric corrosion exposure for a period of twenty (20) years.

Provide a written warranty upon final completion covering panel finish against cracking, checking, blistering, peeling, flaking, chipping, chalking and fading for a period of twenty (20) years.

1.04 DELIVERY, HANDLING & STORAGE

Deliver panels to jobsite properly packaged to guard against damage in transportation. Exercise strict care in unloading, storing and erecting to prevent warping, bending, twisting, end and surface damage.

Store all materials and accessories above ground on well skidded platforms, under waterproof covering. Provide proper ventilation to prevent condensation buildup between panels.

1.05 QUALIFICATIONS

Manufacturer shall have a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing panels of this nature in a permanent, stationary indoor production facility.

Installer shall have a minimum of 3 years of experience in installing roofing of this type.

PART 2 — PRODUCTS

2.01 ROOFING PANELS

Panel profile: Nominal 1-1/2" high x 16" wide, narrow rib, positive lock, concealed-fastener standing seam roof with male-female rib configuration. Texture: smooth.

Steel: Hot-dip zinc coated steel sheet, 24 gage minimum for UL-90 rating, ASTM A 446, Grade A, except as otherwise indicated, G90 zinc coating, surface treated for maximum coating performance.

Fasteners: 18 gauge UL-rated concealed clip with minimum two fasteners to structural substrate.

2.02 ACCESSORIES AND FASTENERS

Fasteners: Manufacturer's standard, with heads gasketed where exposed on exterior.

Accessories: Provide manufacturer's standard and accessories as required for a complete installation including trim, copings, fasciae, flashing, corner units, ridge closures, clips, seam closures, battens, gutters, downspouts, gaskets, sealants, and similar items.

2.03 METAL FINISH

Apply coatings indicated before forming and fabricating panels, as required by coating process and for maximum coating performance.

Fasteners: Manufacturer's standard, with heads gasketed where exposed on exterior.

Flouropolymer Coating: Factory-applied coating consisting of baked-on flouropolymer topcoat formulated with minimum 70% "Kynar 500" resins over modified epoxy primer or urethane primer, with dry film thickness of not less than 0.2 mil for primer and 0.8 mil for topcoat.
Color: as selected by Architect from manufacturer's standard colors.
Finish: Satin

Fabricate and finish panels and accessories at factory to greatest extent possible, by manufacturer's standard procedures and processes to produce panels of type indicated and to comply with indicated profiles, and to dimensional performance requirements indicated.

Roll-form panels in continuous full lengths. Fabricate trim, flashing and accessories to detailed profiles from same material as panels.


PART 3 — EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

Inspect the installed work of other trades and verify that such work is complete. Verify that the installation of roofing may be made in accordance with the approved shop drawings and manufacturer's instructions. In the event of discrepancy, notify the Architect and do not proceed with the installation until all discrepancies have been resolved.

Comply with approved shop drawings and with panel manufacturer's instructions for anchorage, joint sealers, flashing and trim for the proper and permanent installation of panels, with provisions for thermal expansion, erected in panel pattern indicated.

Install panels plumb, level and straight, so that they are weathertight without warp, waves, buckles, fastener stresses or distortion, allowing for expansion and contraction. Conceal fasteners to the extent possible.

3.02 CLEANING AND PROTECTION

Separate metal waste and packaging and place in designated areas for recycling. Remove debris from site. Clean work in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

Protect work against damage until final completion. Replace or repair to the satisfaction of the Owner and the Architect any work that becomes damaged prior to final completion. Touch up minor scratches and abrasions.
