Significant factors in the generation of waste in this Section include hazardous solids and liquids, packing materials, field conditions, protection, insulation,and waste.
SECTION 07120 FLUID-APPLIED WATERPROOFING
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 DESCRIPTION
Extent of fluid applied waterproofing is indicated on Drawings and is to include waterproofing of all below grade foundation walls including top of footings as defined below.
1.02 JOB CONDITIONS
Proceed with waterproofing work only after substrate construction and penetrating work have been completed.
Proceed with waterproofing work only when existing and forecasted weather conditions will permit work to be performed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
1.03 INSTALLER QUALIFICATIONS
The installing firm shall be a firm which has specialized in installation of types of waterproofing required for project for not less than 3 years and which is acceptable to manufacturer of primary materials.
1.04 PERFORMANCE
It is required that fluid-applied waterproofing membrane be watertight and not deteriorate in excess of limitations published by manufacturer.
1.05 WARRANTY
Provide Owner with a copy of manufacturer's warranty.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 FLUID-APPLIED WATERPROOFING
Where choices exist, preference is to be given to coatings which are water based and require water clean up.

2.02 MOISTURE BARRIER
10 mil. thick polyethylene sheet.
2.03 ACCESSORIES
Flashing, cant strips and accessories as recommended by the manufacturer of waterproofing compound.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 PREPARATION
Clean and prime substrate in accordance with instructions of prime materials manufacturer. Install cant strips and similar accessories as shown and as recommended by prime materials manufacturer even though not shown.
3.02 INSTALLATION
General: Comply with manufacturer's instructions, except where more stringent requirements are shown or specified, and except where project conditions require extra precautions or provisions to ensure satisfactory performance of work.
Except as otherwise indicated, and whether or not shown on drawings, apply waterproofing to all exterior below-grade surfaces of exterior underground walls in contact with earthwork or other backfill. Apply uniform coating of waterproofing to substrate and adjoining surfaces to receive membrane.
Extend vertical waterproofing down walls from finished grade line to top of footing, extend over top of footing and turn down minimum of 6" over outside face of footing.
Provide 40-mil (average) coating, with no variations below 35-mil thickness.
Fill voids and seal joints as recommended by manufacturer.
Do not allow waterproofing materials to enter or block drains.
Permit membrane to cure under conditions which will not contaminate or deteriorate waterproofing material. Block off traffic and protect membrane from physical damage.
