EAGLE School is a non-profit, independent elementary school (K-8). It is dedicated to serving the educational needs of gifted and talented children in the greater Madison area. The educational program features an exemplary curriculum with accelerated content which balances rigor with creativity, and small classes with latitude and flexibility to adapt teaching strategies to learning styles. Integral to the program are numerous enrichment activities. After over a decade the school had outgrown its current facility, despite two additions (both designed by Design Coalition).
The new site is on edge of a wetlands and a county-wide environmental corridor bordered by a new neighborhood park and the Capital City State Bicycle Trail. The site offers a stunning view of the Madison cityscape beyond. With the help of landscape architect , the site includes native plant restoration, discovery gardens, and stormwater control features.
Construction of EAGLE School's new building was completed just in time for the Fall '98 term. The facility is approximately 24,000 sq.ft. in size and accommodates 187 students and 23 staff. Even with a very tight construction budget, the building was designed for energy efficiency, low maintenance and good indoor air quality.
