This project converted a large vacant retail space on the State
Capital Square into a child care center for 150 children of State
employees. It features an atrium interior playspace with large
skylights and a rooftop playground with a spectacular view of
the State Capitol grounds. Built for a modest remodeling budget,
the interior design creates attractive, well-scaled environments
for children and supportive and efficient staff workspaces.
Award: Grant from Downtown Madison Inc. for the innovative
rooftop playground.
