Russ is trying to establish a positive example with this 'historically sensitive' mixed use building, a well-detailed Victorian architectural treatment on a thoroughly modern body. As a proper urban building, it is sited close to the street, with the parking behind the building.

(Above) The operatory suites are fully wired for the latest electronic gear for diagnosis, treatment and patient education, but it is done so discreetly within the wood casework. Note the television viewing monitors and artwork on the ceiling. |
Russ's goal is "low fear, high comfort" dentistry, and every design choice is tested against that value. The scale of the building feels residential in size, and in fact the upper floor houses two apartments. The children's play space (below at left, in the waiting room), the office furnishings, even the decorative Victorian bracket at the gable (recreated from the old house that used to be on the site) are all intended to put patients at ease.
